What is Amyloidosis?

Amyloidosis is a rare metabolic disease where your proteins fold, and can cause life threatening organ failure. There are different signs for every case of Amyloidosis, and is based off of where the disease is located. If the disease is in the skin, you'll see visible white splotches or blisters covering your body. There is no cure for Amyloidosis, but there are treatments available for the disease, and can help limit the amount of proteins folded. Causes of the disease include any different proteins can fold to form Amyloids, which can then further to travel to any tissue or organ.

Further Explanation:

These mis-folded proteins are called amyloids. An Amyloid is an abnormal protein produced in your bone marrow and can be put into any tissue or organ. Proteins are normally soluble, but when they fold they become insoluble and then become Amyloids, they become insoluble and get put into tissue and organs, causing problems and disturbing normal functions. It can be present in a few organs, like kidneys or your liver.
